Tagged: good news from yesterday.

I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to attend the MFA Summer Symposium at some point during my college years. I joined their website for the sake of applying to the Symposium, and that automatically subscribed me to their email newsletter. I realized this three days ago when I got the January newsletter.

I scanned through it out of curiosity, and the last item was something about a “SWAG Team,” which I had to read through because of it’s absurd name.

The SWAG Team, the heart and soul of the Music for All Summer Symposium, is a volunteer group of dedicated college students, graduate students, band directors and others interested in music education. The SWAG Team’s mission is to ensure that everyone associated with the Symposium has a positive experience and an opportunity to grow as a person. The SWAG Team plays a major role in the Summer Symposium, serving as counselors, staff assistants and role models to the 1,000+ student participants. It’s an unparalleled experience and a wonderful addition to a résumé, showcasing service on a national scale.

Okay, so despite the weird name, I was hooked. What part of this doesn’t sound like something I would be interested in?? I clicked through to the page of the website about it and then I was certain; this is an opportunity for exactly me. So I sat down yesterday and completed the application. I’m pretty damn excited about it. All I need now is to gather three letters of recommendation and a photo of myself to mail in and I am set to forget about it until I maybe hear back from MFA in April.
